A Cost effective solution To Reconnect remote routers

Many 3G/4G/LTE routers will at some point lose connection to the Internet and not recover without user intervention. For home or office use, this is merely a nuisance. However for remote installations where physical access is difficult this becomes a costly issue to rectify. We designed a compact and cost effective device that automatically power cycles a connected device to ensure maximum uptime.

Design brief

We designed a miniature and cost effective adjustable timer that is wired in between a device and it’s standard DC power supply. When the adjustable timer expires, it will power cycle the device, restart the timer, and repeat. The timer duration was adjustable with a simple jumper location for 6 hours, 24 hours, 5 days, or always on (disabled), This device will then turn the router off and on again to automatically re-establish the remote connection.

This was a cheap device that has been used on many remote sites and prevented many costly site visits. This is quite versatile and can be used for many other devices and applications.
